Carbon Pile Regulator

All of the dates in this short paper are between January 1941 and July 1, 1942.  This shows the international scope of Delco-Remy's involvement in assisting Great Britain in its war with Germany almost a year before the United States entered the war.  The British were seeking companies in the United States that could produce war materials its own industry did not have the capacity to make.  The carbon pile was a British invention that Delco-Remy produced for that country and then for American military vehicles as well.  The date of July 1, 1941 at the end of the document could well be a misprint.  It should be July 1, 1942.  In reading the rest of the document, the other dates indicate that production did not start until 1942.  This being the case, as of July 1, 1942, Delco-Remy had produced 22,000 carbon pile regulators and had a production rate of 1,000 units per day.  Delco-Remy continued production but provided its prints and specifications to Westinghouse and General Electric in order for them to also build the much needed carbon pile regulators.  This was common during World War Two, as in many cases, it took more than one company to provide all the parts needed to wage a global war.
