Chevrolet in Anderson, IN during WWII

During WWII Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors had a that plant produced cylinder heads for Pratt and Whitney R-2800 aircraft engines, which was the premier aircraft engine used by the United States in World War II .  The cylinder heads were then shipped to the Chevrolet Tonawanda, NY engine plant where they were assembled into the 2,000 hp power plants.  Today the Anderson facility still exists at Locust and 17th Streets along with the Tonawanda plant which is now part of GM Powertrain.
